How to Give

The Venture Foundation welcomes charitable gifts from corporations, organizations, foundations, individuals and families in an effort to further the mission of Camp Venture. Giving opportunities range from unrestricted annual gifts, to capital campaign pledges for specific causes, to planned gifts of life insurance, real estate and personal property to benefit Venture’s endowment. For more information on any gift please contact us today.

A gift of cash or check is the simplest and most immediate way people can contribute to the Venture Foundation. Cash gifts are deductible up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income, and any excess deduction may be carried over for 5 additional years.

Matching Gifts
Many employers have matching gift programs through which your generosity to the Venture Foundation can be multiplied. Check with the human resources department at your place of employment to see if they match gifts to the Venture Foundation.

Appreciated Securities
Giving appreciated securities, such as stocks, bonds, IRA’s or mutual funds to the Venture Foundation allows you to avoid capital gains tax on the appreciated portion of the asset given The Venture Foundation welcomes memorial and tribute gifts, which may be given to honor a special relative, friend or associate. Donations may be unrestricted gifts or designated for a specific purpose or area of Camp Venture. Notification is sent to the honoree or family. The amount of your gift will not be mentioned.

Brick Program/Giving Tree
Purchasing an engraved brick or a leaf from the Foundation is a great way to honor or memorialize someone. All bricks are installed on our “Walk of Remembrance” located at Camp Venture’s Day Habilitation Facility in Sparkill and all leafs are part of our “Giving Tree” located at our Therapeutic Equestrian Riding Center in Stony Point.

You may establish a special endowed fund at the Venture Foundation in your own name, or in the name of someone meaningful to you, with a minimum gift of $10,000.

The Venture Foundation offers numerous sponsorship opportunities for corporations, organizations and individuals looking to attach their names to one of our high-profile events.

Wills and Bequests
The easiest and most affordable way to give a gift is to remember the Venture Foundation in your will with a bequest. Your bequest will likely qualify 100 percent for estate and inheritance tax reduction and, if made with tax-qualified assets (IRA, 401K, Keogh Plans), some income tax to your heirs may be eliminated.

Life Insurance
A gift of life insurance can allow a donor to make a more substantial contribution than would otherwise be possible. The Venture Foundation can either purchase a new policy on your life, and be the beneficiary, or be named as the irrevocable beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy that is no longer needed by your family.

Life Income Gifts/Trusts
Life income gifts such as lead and remainder trusts require significant financial investments on the part of the donor as well as the involvement of an attorney or estate planner to ensure that proper tax savings and, in some cases, income may come to the donor or to their loved ones.

Qualified gifts
of real estate can be given outright to support the Foundation, and the donor receives a tax deduction for the fair market value of the property. Real estate can also be used to fund a life income arrangement for the donor or their loved ones. An owner of a personal residence or land may give the property to the Venture Foundation while retaining the right to occupy the home or land.

Tangible Personal Property
A charitable gift of tangible personal property to the Venture Foundation can be a good way to divest yourself of financially valuable items that may be to expensive to insure, are highly appreciated, and therefore subject to capital gains tax, or that may be of significant organizational value to Camp Venture.
